I have spent time over the weekend re- reading the manual for my Canon 1000D. had a play with some of the features I don't use such as the depth of field preview button. I think this is a gimmick which Canon added and to me it is still not useful. I learnt that on the manual setting there is a bulb setting which allows the camera shutter to be held open for longer than 30 seconds. I haven't used this before. Fortunately, I have always found the manual easy to read and refer to should I need it.
Exercise 1
Focal length and angle of view.
Last tuesday was a really windy day. I took the opportunity to take my camera out and take some photos to demonstrate to myself where my zoom lens becomes standard. This is at about 25-30mm.At this point the view through the viewfinder is about the same as the view through my open eye. I have always tried to take action photos by keeping one eye open so I can see the full view. I found it a useful exercise to print off the photos and compare the difference.
